While I may be the foodie out of all my friends, sometimes it’s nice to have someone else plan the wining + dining, so I don’t have to. Cue the boyf, who recently organised a Friday night trip to London Cookery School. What a babe.
Geared up for 3 hours of dim sum making, we were set with the task of creating har gow, chui chow and siu mai steamed dumplings. It sounded like a huge amount of time, but after guzzling down cocktails (it’s also BYOB), mixing up fillings and kneading dough, time flew by.
Not only was this a fun experience just down to actually making dim sum from the first time – rolling dough and carefully pinching into shapes was harder than it looks! – but the friendly chef and laid back atmosphere make this the perfect alternative to the usual dinner out.
What we had:
- Dim sum class (£35 pp)
- Har Gow (prawn dumplings)
- Chui Chow Fun Gor (pork dumplings)
- Shumai (pork + prawn dumplings)
- Prosecco x 2
- Slushie cocktails x 2 (£4.50 each)
