‘Tis the season to wine and dine, right? I can’t even tell you how much I’ve eaten over the last few days and if that wasn’t enough, I kicked things off with a fancy Christmas dinner at Fancy Crab last week.
Located on Marylebone’s Wigmore Street, the seafood-centric spot has gone all out this season. With an entrance adorned in pine and baubles and a huge statement tree in the middle of the restaurant, it’s Christmas to the max.
Haven’t had enough festive feels just yet? The special Christmas menu costs £45 each and is available until January 9th. We started with a couple of plum bellinis as we perused the set menu. There’s all the usual suspects (think turkey etc) but we were after something a little different.
Crab and lobster ravioli sounded lush, though it was way too salty to enjoy. Luckily, duck liver parfait was far tastier, but could have done with a decent amount of bread. When it came to mains, my lobster Thermidor was delicious but slightly on the small side, so we ordered a side of truffle fries which hit the spot.
The boyfriend, Josh, wasn’t as impressed with his cod; pan-fried and served with cauliflower purée and fried lettuce, it was a bland and left him hungry. A few oysters later, though, and all was forgotten.
Ending with a couple of glasses of champagne, I tucked into an Eton mess, while Josh went for a pear and fig tart. Always the key to my heart, you can’t go wrong with after a and this was no exception.
