I’ve been eyeing up Coqfigher‘s Insta for a while now. Buns bulging with sauce; wings looking crispy AF and drool-inducing views all around have evaded me for far to long. So when the chicken connoisseurs opened their first fully-fledged restaurant, I made it a priority to fly down to the coop.
Strategically booking in for lunch after an intense session at Flykick, I was ready to devour anything that came my way. But first… cocktails. A yuzu and sake-infused number got me off to a flying start, as bao layered with tangy sauce and fries sprinkled with a peri-peri-esque dusting of dashi stock and smoked paprika piqued the palate.
Even the humble wing was given an upgrade, with beautiful chunky morsels coated in a vodka-spiked batter and two glazes that were ready to be brushed on DIY-style. The OG burger was as delicious as I expected, but it was the Honey Ginger Buffalo bad boy that really got me. With a huge chunk of perfectly cooked chicken was joined by lashings of sauce and the necessary crunch from house pickles.
Blowing the usual mac n cheese out of the water, cheesy corn was a beautiful, unfamiliar mix of gooey cheese and sweetcorn. A real *must*. Moving onto dessert more cocktails, the ‘Szechaun’ Negroni was ok, but it was the Jalapeño Margarita that really blew me away… and I don’t usually drink margs. Now that’s a winner.
The verdict: a finger-lickin’ 9/10
