5 Of The Best Restaurants In Edinburgh

When it comes to dining in Scotland, it’s not all deep-fried Mars Bars, you know. Not only did I find my favourite Mexican food EVER here (we’re talking mouthwatering tacos and epic frozen margaritas) but, there’s also some of the most Instagrammable settings, fine dining picks and affordable brunches too. Take a look at my top 5 restaurants in Edinburgh and find something to suit every budget.


For Mexican: El Cartel

Where: 64 Thistle Street, Edinburgh, EH2 1EN Why: Authentic Mexican cantina in a super chilled-out setting What: All kinds of tacos, naughty wings + cheese bombers, plus punchy frozen margs Top Tip: Get here early or expect to wait (Bon Vivant is just across the road) £££: Meal for 2 with drinks = £60

For Instagrammable Asian: Tattu

Where: 18 W Register Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2AA Why: Stunning Insta-worthy decor with upscale Asian menus What: Duck bon bons, miso cod, caramel steak and Champagne cocktails Top Tip: Not eating? Ditch the restaurant and stick to the bar for liquid libations £££: 3-course meal for 2 with wine + cocktails = £140

For Brunch: The Brunch Club

For Badass Bagels: Bross Bros

Where: 19 Queensferry Street, Edinburgh EH2 4QW Why: Fully loaded, American-inspired bagels with a Kaytranada-style soundtrack What: Pastrami, lox; all the Jewish deli classics Top Tip: There’s a few around Edinburgh, so check for your nearest location £££: Bagels + coffee for 2 = £16
