Up there with Tayto and Baileys, this boozy take on coffee is one of Ireland’s greatest exports. While it might sound simple enough, it’s a careful balance of sugar and whiskey – getting the mix right so that whipped cream floats on top like magic. So, it’s no surprise that this is one cocktail I avoid making at home. Looking for the best places to drink an Irish coffee in London without having to lift a finger, like me? You’ve come to the right place.

Swift Soho
First on the list has got to be one of my favourite cocktail bars ever. Best known for their take on the hot toddy, Swift serves it perfectly every. single. time. Looking for an Irish coffee near you? With bars in Soho and Shoreditch, they’ve got more than one base covered. For me though, you can’t beat a Jameson-soaked tipple in the original West End plot. Upstairs is bright and photo-worthy, while downstairs boasts low lighting, candlelit booths, and an extensive whiskey list.

The Sun Tavern
On the menu at The Sun Tavern in Bethnal Green? Wine, fizz and cocktails that utilise everything from pisco and tequila to Irish spirit poitín. If you live in East London and haven’t heard of this party bar-slash-pub, then you’re doing something wrong. Using Powers Irish whiskey, the Irish coffee at here is as tasty as it is affordable. The rest of their mixes clock in at just £9 so make sure to try one (or two) while you’re at it.
💸: £7.50

Homeboy
Rooted in Irish hospitality, Homeboy is shaking things up with bars in Angel and Battersea. Forget learning how to make an Irish coffee, because the bartenders here have got three different versions to try. The traditional serve stirs in Jameson, while the Pot Still opts for Redbreast, and the Belfast style is a grittier take – served cold and using Bán Poitín. Whether you’re after something a bit different or a smooth classic, you’ll find it all here.
