The Standard, Bangkok Review: Thailand’s Coolest New Hotel?

The Standard Bangkok Reviews - London Girl Munches

As a fan of The Standard in London and New York, I had nothing but high hopes for the brand’s second opening in East Asia. First launching in Hua Hin, The Standard opened its doors to the Bangkok hotel earlier in 2022 and I had the pleasure of visiting only a few months later. The first stop on my honeymoon across Thailand, this was quite the experience.

First off, there’s the stunning interior design. The brainchild of Spanish artist Jaime Hayon, the decor blends futuristic shapes and scenes with bright pops of colour for a Wes Anderson-inspired creation. Then, there’s the charming hospitality from staff in all areas – whether it’s the team who called us taxis on our way out, or the waiters by the pool who were always on hand for a drink. As for the hotel itself?

BOOK NOW!

A real Instagram paradise, The Standard Bangkok opening is a beauty. All the rooms looks huge, so we booked the ‘standard king‘ which was the smallest but still spacious. Complete with a dining/lounge area, a minibar, king size bed, and massive bathroom (think separate bath, shower, plus a toilet room with a Japanese bidet), it was the perfect city retreat. Plus, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering incredible views from the high-rise building, you really do get a feel for Bangkok.

Our stay also included free tickets to Sky Beach; the highest rooftop bar in Bangkok which is accessible through the building next door. After 7pm, a THB 880 cover charge applies, including a complimentary drink while you take in the immersive elements and epic views. As for the food, if we weren’t exploring the cute cafes nearby, we started our day with the bottomless breakfast (1000 THB) at The Standard Grill. You can choose unlimited dishes from a menu of eggs, pastries and more. There is also afternoon tea at Tease, Chinese dishes at Mott 32 and Mexican cuisine at Ojo. What a dream.

  1. Futuristic vibes with a central location sounds amazing. The word “Standard” is definitely misplaced here. Have a great day, and feel free to check out any of my hotel reviews also 🙂
