London Cocktail Week: The Best Bits

ICYMI: London Cocktail Week was back and bigger than ever last week. Over 300 bars were selling special £6 serves, the cocktail village had tripled in size and there were a tonne of events to get involved in. So naturally, I did just that.

First up was a Tuesday night party with Pernod Ricard. Taking over Omeara, the brand giants had a sexy spread of Jameson Irish Coffees, Plymouth Martinis and oysters from Mother Shucker among other treats.

The cocktail village had just opened so we popped down to check it out. All I could think about was Southern Comfort’s dreamy fried chick from last year and I was beyond happy to stumble across it once again. Bloody Mary’s? Check. Chicken? Check. Beaut weather? Double check. Just what my hangover needed.

I couldn’t resist a cheeky visit to the Absolute Porn Star Martini Townhouse. With a vanilla forest, bubble maze and passionfruit kaleidescope, it was super gimmicky. It might have been great for the gram, but that’s about it. Luckily the mini-masterclass at the end meant we got a boozy sip to redeem things.

On Saturday, it was back to Brick Lane for a final showdown at the village. Armed with a dangerous amount of tokens (thanks DrinkUp.London!), we drank our way through. Kyro distillery were back with whisky tastings in their finish sauna, Virgin Atlantic was dishing out international serves and Ford’s were knocking out the oysters and Martinis.

Rémy Martin and Cointreau joined forces to bring the ultimate Sidecar bar, while Talisker had the perfect salt and chilli hot chocolate to warm us up after getting caught in the rain. Ultimately, it was DrinkUp.London’s bar that won me over, with a velvety champagne-topped killer from Experimental Cocktail Club.
